KIA TELLURIDE NAMED A BEST NEW CAR OF 2020 FROM AUTOTRADER

Autotrader Proclaims Telluride a “Homerun for Kia”

  • Telluride lauded for powerful exterior design and premium, well-appointed interior
  • Kia’s big and bold Telluride stands out in the crowded SUV segment

IRVINE, Calif., March 31, 2020 — The Kia Telluride is one of the Best New Cars of 2020, according to Autotrader.  The honor is just the latest accolade for Kia’s bold and boxy SUV, which continues to earn acclaim for segment leadership, innovation, design, safety, driver satisfaction and overall value.

“Telluride being named a Best New Car of 2020 is a reflection of Kia’s commitment to both the driver and passenger experience,” said Michael Cole, president, Kia Motors America.  “This latest addition to Kia’s trophy case reflects Telluride’s potential for exploration and adventure every time it’s on the road.”

The Autotrader Best New Cars Award is intended to benefit a broad set of shoppers by highlighting a diverse group of 12 vehicles. Each vehicle on this year’s list was agreed upon unanimously by the entire editorial and data team at Autotrader. To be considered, a vehicle must be of the current or next model-year and available for purchase at the time of the announcement. The editors capped the base price for consideration at $75,000 (although most vehicles on the list are well under), meaning they offer a significant value for the asking price. Not only was value a top priority, but vehicles also were judged on available technology and a rewarding or dynamic driving experience. Each winning car had to score an overall 3.9 or higher on the editors’ 5-point evaluation sheet.

“The Kia Telluride is the best three-row SUV you can get right now. In every aspect, they got it just right – space, looks, equipment, technology, comfort  – it’s all there,” said Brian Moody, executive editor for Autotrader. “A real high-point is the interior. The clean lines and uncluttered look make it both functional and attractive. The understated elegance effectively splits the line between everyday utility and uncommon luxury. If a three-row SUV is in your future, consider the made-in-America Telluride, it’s really, really good.”

2020 KIA TELLURIDE NAMED WINNER AMONG AUTOMOBILE ALL-STARS

Brand’s Winningest SUV is a Standout Among 21 World-Class Contenders

  • Award from Automobile comes on the heels of Telluride winning the “Triple Crown” of the auto industry’s top accolades…now the “Grand Slam”
  • Recognized as a stylish, well-built SUV and one of the best new cars of the year

IRVINE, Calif., March 20, 2020 — The 2020 Kia Telluride, the brand’s most decorated SUV ever, has been named a winner at the Automobile All-Stars, an annual evaluation held by leading publication Automobile, to determine the best new vehicles of the year.  This year’s event invited 21 vehicles across various segments to compete, each one considered among the “most interesting new or significantly revised” offerings available to consumers.  Only eight of the 21 vehicles were named “All-Stars.”

This win comes on the heels of Telluride becoming the first-ever SUV to claim the “Triple Crown” of the auto industry’s most prestigious honors: 2020 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year from North American Car of the Year (NACTOY)1; MotorTrend SUV of the Year; and a Car and Driver 10 Best.

“The Telluride being named an All-Star by Automobile is an honor for the Kia brand and extends our popular SUV’s impressive marathon run of significant accolades,” said Michael Cole, president, Kia Motors America (KMA). “It is further validation that our eight-passenger SUV delivers on its promise of world-class design, quality and engineering to our customers.”

The editors of Automobile selected and tested 21 vehicles over multiple days of driving on various types of roads in and around the California high desert.  After evaluating and scoring an array of criteria for each contender, the staff determined eight All-Stars winners as the best new cars of the year.

“The fact the 2020 Kia Telluride impressed our test drivers so much is a testament to Kia’s execution of style, practicality and value,” said Automobile editor-in-chief Mac Morrison. “In an Automobile All-Stars field of contenders that included some of the best sports cars, luxury GTs and supercars on the market today, this three-row SUV still stood out easily as one of the best new cars of the year. Whether you’re talking about its exterior appearance, interior appointments, or the experience from behind the wheel or in one of the cushy passenger seats, it’s a winner in every way.”

In addition to collecting the most awards within its first year on the market in Kia history, the Telluride is also one of KMA’s best-selling vehicles. Since going on sale in early 2019, over 70,000 Tellurides have been sold and demand continues to quickly outpace supply.  Conceived, designed, and developed in the U.S. specifically for the U.S. market, the Telluride is proudly assembled in West Point, Georgia, and is the first Kia vehicle to be exported from the United States.

KIA MOTORS DONATES $1 MILLION TO “YARDS AGAINST HOMELESSNESS” CHARITY PARTNERS

Philanthropic Effort Was Part of Kia’s “Tough Never Quits” Super Bowl Campaign

  •  Presentations to Covenant House and StandUp for Kids scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, in Southern California
  •  Positive Tomorrows presentation scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, in Oklahoma City

IRVINE, Calif., March 5, 2020 – Delivering on its “Yards Against Homelessness” promise, Kia Motors America today delivered two of three planned charitable donations – totaling $1 million – to Covenant House and StandUp for Kids.  A third donation to Positive Tomorrows will be made later this month.

An extension of Kia’s “Give It Everything” brand personality, Yards Against Homelessness continued the brand’s efforts to support and elevate America’s youth by donating $1,000 for every yard gained during the Super Bowl to three organizations dedicated to ending youth homelessness. After the accumulation of 748 total yards,  Kia increased the total donation amount to $1 million. The initiative was inspired by Josh Jacobs, the pro-football running back that starred in the 60-second Super Bowl spot and also experienced periods of homelessness as a child growing up in Oklahoma.

“Covenant House, StandUp for Kids and Positive Tomorrows provide empowering and life-saving services and Kia is proud to present these important organizations with the funds generated by our Yards Against Homelessness initiative,” said Russell Wager, director, marketing operations, Kia Motors America. “While one million dollars is not enough to end the issue of youth homelessness, it represents a positive step towards the solution. With the homeless youth population in the U.S. estimated at a staggering 4.2 million, it is vital that we do all we can to help end this crisis once and for all.”
