IRVINE, Calif., August 31, 2020 – The introduction of Kia’s most powerful midsize sedan ever – the all-new 2021 K5 – continues as Kia Motors America (KMA) launches a creative broadcast campaign and embarks on never-before-seen marketing partnerships with network shows including NBCUniversal’s America’s Got Talent and the 72nd Emmy® Awards telecast. The initiatives come hot on the wheels of the first-ever K5 Live “Triple Threat Stunt” – which took place in July – and will continue showcasing the all-new K5 midsize sedan in unique and unexpected ways.

“The Kia K5 is like nothing else in the category and we looked for high-profile partners to create a series of events and creative elements that showcase our most powerful midsize sedan ever,” said Russell Wager, director, marketing operations, Kia Motors America. “The partnerships with America’s Got Talent and the Emmys are a completely new direction for Kia and help bring live elements to a launch that has been decidedly different from the start.”

Debuting on national broadcast outlets on September 1st, the “Turning the Lights On” spot, created by David & Goliath, Kia’s creative agency of record, finds the K5 GT zipping through a warehouse full of dusty, discarded carnival rides and toys. As the K5 passes each cobweb covered piece of equipment, they magically come back to life and soon the entire space is re-energized, with blinking lights, carnival music and animatronic movements, highlighting how the K5 is breathing new life into and re-energizing the staid and stale midsize sedan category. The spot ends with the voiceover “Rides made us feel something once, they can do it again.” The creative includes both :30- and :15- second spots that will be used across both broadcast and digital platforms.

In conjunction with the broadcast campaign, Kia is the first automotive brand to officially partner with Summer’s hottest show, America’s Got Talent, and will conduct a live episode takeover on September 1st.  The partnership puts the maneuverability and beauty of the K5 on full display, featured in a surprise show open and supported with prominent Kia branding throughout the episode.

Later in September, the K5 will be front and center for biggest night in television as Kia partners with ABC and the Television Academy for the 72nd Emmy Awards telecast.  Kia will be featured through a series of integrations showcasing the brand’s K5 and Telluride Nightfall Edition  models. The Emmy Awards are scheduled to air live on ABC, Sunday, September 20th.

Latest Delivery Made to Kheir Clinic in Los Angeles

IRVINE, Calif., August 13, 2020 – Kia Motors continues to “Accelerate The Good” through the donation of personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals and medical facilities nationwide. This week, the Kia “Telluriders” delivered face shields to the Kheir Clinic in Los Angeles. The deliveries are part of Kia’s Accelerate The Good initiatives, which includes ongoing face shield donations to medical facilities not only throughout Southern California, but also to facilities throughout Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, New York and Washington, D.C. The face shields are assembled at Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia in West Point and the brand will donate more than 500,000 face shields nationwide to help in the fight against COVID-19. In addition, Kia donated $1 million to non-profit partners that assist America’s homeless youth population.

Hyundai Motor Group Provides Pandemic Mobility Support to Residents of Los Angeles

  • Group’s mobility service venture MoceanLab collaborates with local organizations under ‘LA Heroes Fleet’ program
  • Hyundai and Kia vehicles support USC Keck School of Medicine’s Street Medicine Team as they travel to homeless residents for treatment

LOS ANGELES, August 4, 2020 – Hyundai Motor Group is continuing its global fight against COVID-19 in the City of Los Angeles by providing eco-friendly transportation to frontline personnel through its mobility service venture, MoceanLab.

Under the ‘LA Heroes Fleet’ program, MoceanLab is working with local organizations to assist in their community outreach by providing low-emission hybrid vehicles from Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors Corporation. The fleets will undergo a thorough sanitation process to ensure the health and safety of the frontline personnel that use the vehicles, including frequent cleaning with anti-viral solutions and other safety measures as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“We recognized the critical need for safe and hygienic transportation during the pandemic, and wanted to offer an innovative mobility solution, particularly for frontline workers,” said Kyounglim Yun, Executive Vice President and Head of Open Innovation Strategy Division of Hyundai Motor Group. “We are pleased that MoceanLab’s ‘LA Heroes Fleet’ is contributing to the city’s fight against COVID-19, and we will continue to work closely with the City of Los Angeles to find more opportunities to make a positive impact in the region.”

MoceanLab will work with the Keck School of Medicine of USC to care for the city's unsheltered homeless population amid the pandemic. Hyundai and Kia's hybrid vehicles will be provided for full-time use by the renowned Street Medicine Team as they travel to serve homeless residents where they reside, away from conventional treatment settings. The program is expected to enable the Street Medicine Team to better serve the city’s most vulnerable and hard-to-reach residents for a full spectrum of services, including COVID-19 tests.

MoceanLab also provided Hyundai and Kia’s eco-friendly vehicles to South LA Cafe & Market, a local business that has been working with the City of Los Angeles to serve in-need community members during the pandemic. The vehicles will be used to deliver food to seniors and other at-risk residents, enabling them to remain safe and indoors during the pandemic. The vehicles will also be used to deliver healthy grocery boxes to COVID-19 testing sites, non-profit organizations, and residents in need of fresh food options.

“This program with MoceanLab will expand the transformative power of USC’s Street Medicine Team and have a profound impact on residents in need who deserve this excellent, humane medical care,” said Aaron Gross, Chief Resilience Officer at City of Los Angeles. “Addressing the challenge of chronic homelessness is an urgent priority in communities throughout Los Angeles, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic slowdown place new burdens on families and individuals.”

Established in November 2019 by Hyundai Motor Group, MoceanLab is offering mobility services in Los Angeles with a commitment to create innovative mobility solutions that benefit residents and communities. Earlier this year, the company launched its first car sharing service, Mocean Carshare, in Downtown L.A., allowing drivers to quickly and easily rent a low-emission hybrid electric car and return it anywhere downtown. The company aims to transition the fleet to fully electric vehicles with a gradual expansion of Hyundai and Kia's vehicles.

KIA MOTORS AMERICA ANNOUNCES JULY SALES

Best-Ever July Retail-Only Sales Total in Kia’s History; Light Truck Sales Up 12.7-Percent Year-Over-Year

 IRVINE, Calif., August 3, 2020 – Kia Motors America’s July sales of 52,479 vehicles featured the highest July retail-only total in company history. Kia’s top-selling models for the month were the Sorento and Sportage SUVs. Additional July sales highlights include:

  • Telluride SUV sales rose 68.3-percent over last month as planned production resumed at Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia
  • Best-ever July retail sales for the Sportage SUV of 7,939 units
  • The best monthly sales performance for the Seltos SUV with 4,504 units
  • The all-new K5 midsize sedan debuted in July with partial month sales of 1,268 vehicles

“In the middle of the pandemic Kia posted the largest year-over-year retail-only volume increase in the industry as demand for our six utility vehicles continues to grow,” said Bill Peffer, vice president, sales operations, Kia Motors America. “Kia’s momentum has allowed us to gain share and we are confident that the all-new K5 and Telluride Nightfall Edition, combined with several new product launches scheduled for the coming months, will continue the brand’s upward trajectory.”
