SEOUL, Dec. 17, 2021 – Hyundai Motor Group (the Group) today announced that Albert Biermann, President and Head of the Research and Development (R&D) Division for the Group, is retiring, but will continue to act as an Executive Technical Advisor for the Group based in Europe.

Kia SUVs Win for Class-Leading Value, Style, and Technology

  •  Telluride recognized as Best 3-Row Midsize SUV for third year
  • Seltos named Best Subcompact SUV for second year

IRVINE, Calif., December 14, 2021 — The Kia Telluride and Seltos sport-utility vehicles have been announced as repeat category winners of Kelley Blue Book’s Best Buy Awards by the editors of Kelley Blue Book. This is the third year in a row that Telluride has been named as Best 3-Row Midsize SUV, and 2022 marks the second year that Seltos is recognized as Best Subcompact SUV.

“As the bookends to our lineup of SUVs, Telluride and Seltos show the impressive spectrum of capability that Kia can deliver, and we are proud to see them honored as segment leaders by the automotive experts at Kelley Blue Book,” said Sean Yoon, president & CEO, Kia North America, Kia America.

The editors of Kelley Blue Book acknowledged that the 2022 Telluride "is as good-looking in its sheet metal as it is on paper,” and noted that the Telluride “looks as at home at an expensive country club as it does in a suburban driveway.” The 2022 Seltos led the Subcompact segment with “a spacious upscale interior with modern tech, safety, and class-leading cargo room, all at a reasonable price,” according to the editors.

Kelley Blue Book editors selected their Best Buy candidates through a process of extensive evaluation of subjective and objective metrics of vehicles on sale in the United States, scrutinizing over 300 new vehicles for the 2022 model year.

As a three-time Best Buy Award winner, the Telluride maintains popularity as a big, bold SUV, and has set a high bar for all Kia vehicles to achieve. For 2022, the Telluride adds the new Kia badging and redesigned radiator grille. Inside, the Telluride adds a larger 10.25-inch navigation display, fully automatic temperature control and highway driving assist to the LX and S trims, as well as Navigation Based Smart Cruise Control-Curve to all trims.

The Seltos is a utility vehicle with an abundance of attitude, modern styling and a penchant for adventure, whether that means everyday driving around town or in the wilderness on weekends. The 2022 Seltos arrives with more standard safety technology and brawny good looks with the new Turbo Nightfall Edition.

KIA ANNOUNCES 310-MILE EPA-CERTIFIED RANGE FOR ALL-NEW EV6

First Dedicated EV from Kia Goes the Distance

  • All-electric range (AER) for entire EV6 lineup announced
  • Efficiency reaches 4.0 miles/kWh (29 kWh/100-miles), when equipped with the 77.4-kWh battery and rear-wheel drive

IRVINE, Calif., December 15, 2021 — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has certified a maximum all-electric range (AER) of 310 miles for the 2022 Kia EV6 when equipped with a 77.4 kWh battery and rear-wheel drive. The all-electric range (AER) for the entire EV6 lineup was announced ahead of the EV6 going on sale in the first quarter of 2022.  More information about the certification is available at Fueleconomy.gov

The top rating of 310 miles AER applies to EV6 when configured with a 77.4 kWh battery and rear-wheel drive, including EV6 GT-Line RWD and EV6 EX+ RWD. This rating represents an impressive overall efficiency of 4.0 miles/kWh. EV6 models fitted with all-wheel drive are EPA-certified at 274 miles AER, and the 58.0-kWh EV6 EX is rated at 232 miles AER. These range figures are a testament to the efficiency of EV6 in motor performance and aerodynamics.

For occasional instances when a fast charge is desired, the EV6 can be charged quickly, thanks to a patented multi-charging system that supports 400v and 800v DC charging, which works on DC chargers with speeds ranging from 50kW to 350kW1

“Offering EV6 customers over 300 miles of all-electric range per charge, combined with the ability to recharge quickly and efficiently, is foundational to the rollout of our Plan S Strategy that positions Kia as an EV leader,” said Sean Yoon, president & CEO, Kia North America, Kia America.

The Kia EV6 delivers jaw-dropping performance, available AWD capability, ultra-fast DC charging, vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, and a flat-floor interior that utilizes sustainable-friendly materials throughout the cabin. The EV6 also offers a wide array of advanced driver assistance systems, adding an unprecedented level of connectivity and safety. The first EV6 (EX, EX+ and GT-Line) models are expected to go on sale in early 2022 in all 50 states.

The Kia EV6 named ‘Crossover of the Year’ at 2021 TopGear.com Awards

(SEOUL) November 30, 2021 – The Kia EV6 has earned the coveted ‘Crossover of the Year’ title at the 2021 TopGear.com Awards.

The fully electric EV6 impressed Top Gear’s judges thanks to its style, dynamic performance, long electric range and 800-volt ultra-fast charging – offering 10-to-80 per cent charge in just 18 minutes.

Tom Ford, Associate Editor, commented: “With the EV6, Kia has gone all-in; wholly electric, wild styling, class-leading charging, gadgets galore. It delves deeply into the concept of a mobile lounge, the EV6 pushes into the darker corners of making an EV actually interesting to drive. It’s also spacious, nicely-equipped and well-built. It cruises with all the best bits of EVs – quiet, smooth, calm – and then punts down a backroad with proper potential. A crossover in more than one sense, then. For the car, and the brand.”

The TopGear.com Awards ceremony is viewable at youtube.com/topgear and topgear.com. The Kia EV6 is also featured in the latest issue of BBC Top Gear Magazine, an awards issue dedicated to the best new cars in the world today.

The EV6 is Kia’s first dedicated electric car, and shows the exciting potential of the company’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The EV6 offers buyers a choice of multiple fully-electric, zero-emission powertrain configurations, including long-range (77.4 kWh) and standard-range (58.0 kWh) high-voltage battery packs. EV6 GT-line is available with both long-range and standard-range battery packs, while EV6 GT features the long-range battery pack only. This is Kia’s first electric vehicle to be available with two-wheel (2WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) options – the latter offering enhanced dynamic capability in even the most challenging conditions.
